The Hunt For the Seven Gentlemen

For Fantasy Art we did covers for fake novels, which was pretty cool. We teamed up with kids from Washington University taught by John Hendrix for critique time on Facebook every week. I figure that since this was such a critique-baased process, I'll show a little of the work that went into picking an image.

Thumbnails:

I obviously am an amazing and talented person, as you can tell by that last beautifully thought-through thumbnail on the second page.

Next some larger sketches for 3 I liked:

Aaaaand the final! A lot changed!

The Encounter

"He had heard the door handle rattling and flipped the light switch. She had hoped to sneak back inside unnoticed. Her lip rouge was worn and her cheeks were flushed. "You're standing really close to me," she said nervously."

The First Guest

"He was late. Everyone was late. She had been there since 5:30. She was certain the ceramic dog had moved.

The Vice

"She spent the early part of the evening telling everyone who would listen that she hardly ever touched the stuff. She spent the rest of the evening touching it."

Ballerinas!

BIG UPDATE TIME!!!

Here are some character designs I did for Fantasy Art class based on a Russian fairy tale about some ballerinas who get magic'd into a big fat lady!

There is also this nasty piece of work, who gets some plastic surgery to look like someone else and steal their money! Sneaky!

And here's a quick environment sketch! Click to see it bigger!

BLUH BLUH

So this is a thing that happened. For Fantasy Art we got an assignment to draw some SWEET HARRY POTTER FANART to submit to Gallery Nucleus' HP tribute show. For some reason, I decided to draw all of the quidditch teams of Harry's second year BECAUSE I AM INCREDIBLY SILLY. So here they are for your viewing pleasure. I'm probably gonna clean these up some and make prints for MoCCA, which I will be attending in April!

The Wine

He told the man that the joke had gotten old, but there they were, standing in a pool of wine that was worth at least twice as much as the carpet.

The Curtain

"The room was unnaturally cold. He offered her his jacket but she declined, softly brushing his arm away. She didn’t want anything to dull the experience. At long last the curtain was being drawn."

Feather Island

Another piece for Fantasy Art of some sexy bird ladies. It's based off of a 1700's French novel describing a resort island where there are only eternally young women and the noble ladies grow feathers instead of hair and hatch out of bird eggs and stuff. Pretty sassy.

A Coven of Witches!

I'm taking Fantasy Art this semester with Jaime Zollars! It's super fun so far! Our first assignment was to pick a cliched fantasy stereotype and make it our own! So I drew this picture of some super cutie teenaged gypsy witches or something! Woo!

Click that sucka for a closer look!

Style Dolls

For Dan's class, I was doing these style dress-up dolls every once in a while. They were pretty fun, but a little too time consuming what with thesis and all to keep my interest, haha. Check 'em out!

Over break, I bought some new clothes and made a style doll for me!
